LABA St Catherine Creek September field trip

WEEKEND TRIP Saturday/Sunday Sept 20\21
We try again to go to Natchez MS for our overnight September trip.  Some of us will go up on Saturday and meet for lunch and birding, others can meet us on Sunday.
St. Catherine Creek National Wildlife Refuge, operated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, was established in 1990 and is one of over 520 Refuges in the United States. The Refuge is located on the Mississippi River just South of Natchez, and presently is comprised of 24,442 acres.   This trail consists of a 3.6 mile hardwood forest trail. The hills on this trail provide a good source of exercise, while the rookery provides an excellent observation point, as it is a haven for nesting waterfowl. The headquarters is located approximately 10 miles south of Natchez off of US Highway 61. Turn onto York Road in Sibley, proceed 2 miles; turn left onto Pintail Lane - 3rd building on the right.  http://www.fws.gov/saintcatherinecreek/index.html  Don't forget bug spray, sunscreen and water/snacks. Bring a picnic lunch to join the group at the refuge or stop on the way and bring your fast food.
Lafayette group meet at the Atchafalaya Visitor Center at 9:30 a.m. If you want to meet us Sunday at the Refuge call us for a time.  We will be staying at the Days Inn, 109 Hwy 61 South. 601-445-8291 $70.00 plus.  We have 10 rooms set aside for the group but you must call before August 20th .  When you call for a room, tell them you are with the "Judith LABA" group.
